~ About ~
The Cavens Arms is a traditional pub serving great food and drinks in the heart of Dumfries town centre. First opened in 2003 by Gary and Faye Jeffries, we set out with a vision of selling great quality, homemade food and real ales in a friendly and welcoming town atmosphere.
You can find us next door to Barbour’s department store at the top of Buccleuch Street, between the High Street and Whitesands.
In 2010 we bought the building next door and took on the task of expanding the restaurant area for customers and relocating the kitchen to a larger space. We worked long and hard to preserve the Cavens familiar cosy and comfortable atmosphere that our customers know and love, whilst giving everyone a wee bit extra elbow room.
As we continue to develop and expand our menu and beverage selection, we look forward to welcoming you to Cavens Arms.
Gary’s pride in his Real Ales is well known and Cavens offers up to 8 different ales sourced from throughout the UK. Since 2006 to present day, Cavens has consecutively been the proud winner of the Camra (Campaign for Real Ale) Dumfries Pub of the Year Award.
Great pub grub
Cavens’ trademark dish has always been freshly battered fish served with hand cut, ‘chip shop style’ chips (we’ve even been a finalist in The National Fish and Chips Awards).
Whilst our menu has developed and grown considerably, good old fashioned ‘fish ‘n’ chips remains our best selling dish to this day – especially on ‘Get Battered Tuesdays’ when it’s offered at a discounted price.
For the traditionalists, come and try our Sunday Roast; beef, veg and all the trimmings – a real treat served every week.
Food is served all day every day apart from Mondays.
